This girdle reinforces the banjo tubes on the Volvo 240’s 1031 rear axle, helping to prevent flex under high horsepower applications (500hp+), especially when using slicks or R-compound tires.
Material & Thickness:
Suggested cutting in 10 mm steel.
The accompanying clamps (overfalls) can be cut in 10–15 mm steel and then welded to the axle or bolted.
Bolt-On Option:
Small notches indicate where to drill through-holes for those who prefer bolting the entire girdle in place.
The girdle bolts between the transmission cover and the axle.
Important Note:
This solution does not fit Volvo 740, despite the similar 1031 axle, due to their three-link suspension design.
